Just like the energetic character in my children’s book, HIGH IN THE SKY, who uses the power of imagination and a tire swing to travel to far away places, HIGH IN THE SKY has also taken flight and traveled on many exciting adventures!
Let me explain…when my first printing rolled off the press in December 2015, I dreamed of having my book in local bookstores, schools and libraries. It never occurred to me that one year later, HIGH IN THE SKY would have gone into a second printing and be available in libraries coast to coast across Canada from Vancouver Island, B.C. to Newfoundland & Labrador, throughout Ontario, Nunavut and even as far away as New Zealand, Australia and Tasmania.
It is amazing to realize that children, parents and educators from cities and towns around the globe, whom I have never met, are borrowing HIGH IN THE SKY from their neighbourhood libraries and taking copies of my book into their homes and schools to read and enjoy.
Back home in Toronto, I have had the wonderful opportunity to connect with Librarians, Library Directors, Children’s Service Managers and many other friendly, helpful and supportive library representatives all over the world. Mostly via email, library websites and sometimes face-to-face, I have introduced HIGH IN THE SKY to various library personnel, many of whom have purchased copies for their library collections.
Rhonda Campbell, Youth Services Coordinator for Leduc Public Library, Alberta commented, “HIGH IN THE SKY is a lovely illustrated book with a great message to help channel the imaginations.”
Angela Meady, Head of Children’s & Youth Services, Thunder Bay Public Library, Ontario wrote, “Books to help children deal with stress are important and I like the positive approach HIGH IN THE SKY takes.”
Imagine what amazing adventures await for HIGH IN THE SKY. The possibilities are endless. Happy travels HIGH IN THE SKY!
